Job summary

Urban Farmer LLC is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to maintain and improve our facility operations in Manteno, IL. The role covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC, safety, and general maintenance to ensure a safe, efficient environment for staff and guests.

You will inspect systems, perform preventive work, document tasks, and coordinate with contractors for major repairs, with a focus on reliability and safety. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in facilities management, building maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair various maintenance issues independently.
• Proficient in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with staff and management.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments on mechanical systems.
• Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including fixtures, pipes, and water heaters.
• Perform minor electrical repairs, such as replacing light fixtures, outlets, and switches.
• Maintain HVAC systems, including filters, coils, and thermostats, and assist with troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain SDS and proper hazardous materials labeling.
• Document maintenance work, parts used, labor hours, and issues resolved for reports.
• Respond to facility emergencies and assist in developing emergency plans.
• Collaborate with departments, contractors, and vendors for repairs and events.
• Maintain organized inventory of maintenance supplies and order parts as needed.
• Identify opportunities for improving efficiency in facility operations and maintenance.
