Job summary

Lawrence Township Public Schools seeks a skilled Maintenance Worker to perform varied tasks in buildings, grounds, and facilities. Under supervision, you will handle repair work, painting, plumbing and electrical tasks, and equipment maintenance to keep the school environment safe and efficient.

The role requires at least 3 years in maintenance, strong problem solving, safety awareness, and the ability to use a computer-based work order system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of broad experience in work involving general maintenance.
• Maintenance expertise in buildings, equipment, and grounds.
• Ability to analyze problems, organize work, and develop effective methods.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Observe established safety procedures.
• A Black Seal Fireman's License is required or obtained within one year.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar.
• Ability to use computers for information searchers and work order management.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings for hazardous conditions, malfunctioning fixtures, appliances and equipment.
• Complete interior and exterior painting; prepare surfaces and apply paints and sealants.
• Inspect, install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment, fixtures, and circuits.
• Repair and maintain walls, ceilings, brickwork, tile floors, masonry and concrete surfaces.
• Complete work orders and follow written or verbal directions.
• Inspect and repair plumbing fixtures, fittings, and machinery.
• Operate from ladders, scaffolds and lifts as required.
• Maintain school grounds: pruning, mowing, trimming; prepare athletic fields.
• Clear snow, spread sand and salt; drive snowplows as needed.
• Keep records of work, materials, and time spent using a computer-based system.
