Job summary

Opti Staffing represents a long-term, permanent CNC Machinist position for our client in Tigard, OR. The role focuses on setup and operation of CNC Mills, including 5-axis work, to precise inch and metric drawings, while maintaining tooling and quality standards.

You will collaborate with skilled colleagues to optimize processes, reduce waste, and ensure on-time delivery in a family-friendly environment. The client emphasizes accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement in manufacturing

Qualifications

• Ability to machine to .005 tolerance.
• Read and interpret engineered drawings in metric, decimal and fractional inch units.
• Demonstrated ability to set up manual machine with appropriate tooling and fixtures.
• Demonstrated ability to use inspection tooling to measure and verify dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operation of CNC Mills in compliance with inch and metric drawing specifications.
• Set up and operate 5 Axis CNC to machine parts to drawing specs.
• Act as technical resource regarding tooling and machining capabilities.
• Evaluate and justify new tooling and machining processes.
• Communicate issues relating to work orders, programming errors, material shortages or errors.
• Continuous focus on reduction of material, labor and scrap.
• Perform minor maintenance activities as required by preventive maintenance.

What You'll Do

• Set-up and operation of the CNC Mills in compliance with inch and metric drawing specifications.
• Set up and operate 5 Axis CNC to machine flat, contoured and formed parts to inch and metric drawing specifications.
• Act as technical resource regarding tooling and machining capabilities.
• Evaluate and justify new tooling and machining processes.
• Communicate issues relating to work orders, programming errors, material shortages or errors.
• Continuous focus on reduction of material, labor and scrap.
• Perform minor maintenance activities as required by the preventive maintenance program.
• Continued education and training including, but not limited to: ISO 9001, safety, blueprint reading, teamwork, and Statistical Process Control.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area.
• Accurately record labor time for job tracking.
• Present a professional image in accordance with company appearance standards.
• Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrate & Promote Safety in accordance with company policy.

• Advise on corrective actions that need to be taken.
• Document Red lines.
• Perform R&D work as directed.

What You Need to Have

• Ability to machine to .005 tolerance.
• Able to use rotary table and divider head mill vise.
• Demonstrated ability to perform tooling designs.
• Demonstrated ability to use inspection tooling to measure and verify dimensions.
• Must be able to read and interpret engineered drawings in metric, decimal and fractional inch units.
• Able to maintain and inspect tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to set up manual machine using appropriate tooling and fixtures.
• Demonstrated ability to operate manual mill and lathe.
