Position Summary

105 W Madison is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Day Porter to support the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our office building. This individual will be responsible for maintaining public and shared areas and assisting with light maintenance tasks to keep the property running smoothly.

You're proactive, take pride in your work, and enjoy creating a clean, welcoming environment. You're comfortable working independently or with a team and are ready to assist with small repair or maintenance tasks as needed.

Core Responsibilities

1. Common Area Cleaning & Sanitation:
   • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain cleanliness of all interior and exterior common areas, including entrances, hallways, vestibules, stairwells, public restrooms, and glass surfaces.
   • Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, and elevator buttons.
   • Ensure all common areas are tidy, safe, and presentable throughout the day.
2. Vacant Unit Assistance:
   • Help with cleaning recently vacated units to prepare them for new tenants, including dusting, wiping surfaces, and sanitation of kitchens and bathrooms.
3. Light Maintenance & Repair Support:
   • Perform simple maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs and batteries, unclogging minor drains, tightening fixtures, and reporting major issues to the maintenance team.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1+ year of janitorial, porter, or custodial experience preferred.
• Basic maintenance knowledge or handyman experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to cleanliness.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-30 lbs.
• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods, including bending, reaching, and climbing stairs.
• Familiarity with cleaning supplies, equipment, and safe chemical usage.
• Clear communication skills in English for safety and interaction.
• Professional, reliable, and courteous demeanor.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Knowledge of basic tools (screwdriver, pliers, plunger, etc.).
• Understanding of property maintenance or experience in commercial properties.
• OSHA safety knowledge or willingness to learn.
