Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking a Day Lead Janitor to oversee daytime janitorial operations at FLETC Charleston. You will supervise cleaning personnel, coordinate daily tasks, and act as the on-site point of contact for day-shift custodial concerns.

The role requires at least 2 years in custodial work with 1 year in a supervisory capacity, plus knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools and chemical use. The position is on-site in Charleston, SC with comprehensive health benefits and a strong Safety Program.

Qualifications

• 2 years custodial/janitorial experience, with 1 year in a supervisory/lead role.
• Knowledge of industry-standard cleaning techniques, tools and chemical use.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Ability to organise and manage multiple staff assignments.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support day janitorial staff in performing cleaning duties across administrative buildings and training areas.
• Distribute materials and supplies to janitors.
• Conduct daily inspections to ensure contract cleaning standards including sanitizing, dusting, trash removal and floor care.
• Schedule and assign cleaning tasks based on the approved Cleaning Matrix and PWS frequency tables.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentoring on safety procedures and cleaning protocols.
• Communicate facility maintenance issues to the COR or Facilities Manager.
• Ensure use of appropriate PPE and safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
• Provide reports as required by management.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request resupply as needed.
• Coordinate response to special cleaning requests or emergencies during the day shift.
• Maintain proper documentation and shift handover communication.
