Job summary

ACLD is seeking a Day Habilitation Specialist in Levittown, NY to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in day habilitation settings. You will help participants reach personal goals, provide structure and emotional support, and transport them to activities.

The role requires a valid NYS driver's license, a high school diploma, and the ability to communicate in English. AMAP/SCIP trainings are expected to be completed within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Some experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled population preferred; training provided.
• AMAP and SCIP trainings to be completed within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to assist with lifting and transferring an adult.

In this position, you will:

• Help program participants achieve/exceed their personal goals;

• Transport the people supported to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles.

We require:

• Clean, valid NYS Driver's license
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Some experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population preferred; but will train.
• Complete within 6 months of hire and maintain required trainings in AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) and SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention).
• The ability to assist with liftingand transferring an adult person.
• Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus.
• Ability to communicate and understand in English; both verbally and in writing.
