Job summary

ACLD is seeking a Day Habilitation Specialist to support adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Levittown, NY. You will help participants work toward personal goals, provide structure, and ensure safety and well-being in daily activities.

The role requires a valid NYS driver's license, high school diploma, and the ability to lift and transfer an adult. Training in AMAP and SCIP is provided or required within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Clean, valid NYS Driver's license.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with intellectually/developmentally disabled population preferred; training provided.
• Ability to lift and transfer an adult person.
• Willingness to complete AMAP and SCIP trainings within 6 months.
• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

In this position, you will:

• Help program participants achieve/exceed their personal goals;

• Transport the people supported to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles.

We require:

• Clean, valid NYS Driver's license
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Some experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population preferred; but will train.
• Complete within 6 months of hire and maintain required trainings in AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) and SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention).
• The ability to assist with liftingand transferring an adult person.
• Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus.
• Ability to communicate and understand in English; both verbally and in writing.
