Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Day Care Minimum Standards Program Specialist to provide senior advisory support on rules, standards, and safety for the CCR program within Regulatory Services. The role emphasizes analysis, policy interpretation, and collaboration with CCR staff and external stakeholders.

The position reports to the CCR program leadership, involves cross-program collaboration, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in child care regulation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; education/experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Three years’ experience in Child Care Regulation, preferably day care, or as a day care director.
• Experience interpreting rules and developing policy for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Consult with CCR staff and external stakeholders about child care regulation and standards.
• Collect, analyze, and report data in response to requests and for program evaluation.
• Plan and develop program improvements and new initiatives with internal and external partners.
• Explain and apply CCR minimum standards and regulatory procedures to staff and providers.
• Coordinate with cross-agency groups and assist in regulatory reform efforts.
