Job summary

Apptad Inc. seeks an experienced Data Center Operations professional to manage 24/7 datacenter activities, including servers, storage, and network gear. You will handle racking, cabling, decommissioning, and break- fixes while ensuring uptime and SLA compliance.

The role requires hands-on DC experience, capacity planning, and strong communication skills to coordinate with vendors and internal teams. Night shifts are a key component of the schedule.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of datacenter operations experience in a large, complex environment.
  • Hands-on experience with servers, storage, routers/switches, and cabling.
  • Experience in capacity planning for rack space, power, and cooling.
  • Proficient in incident handling and meeting SLAs.
  • Able to coordinate with DC vendors and internal project teams.
  • Strong communication and teamwork; comfortable under pressure.
  • Ongoing learner with good interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • 12-hour night shift experience and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 24/7 datacenter operations for servers, storage and network gear.
  • Perform rack/equipment installation, decommissioning, and break-fix tasks.
  • Monitor capacity, power, cooling, and environmental metrics.
  • Coordinate with vendors for new projects and maintenance work.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
  • Support project teams for installations and decommissioning activities.
  • Communicate clearly during conference calls and crisis situations.

Job description

Mandatory Skills:

Accountable for 24* 7 support for overall Infra/ Datacenter (Servers, Storage, Network, Racks

etc) Operations.

100% hands-on datacenter management (servers, racks, fiber / copper cablings etc),

Well versed working (Racking / Stacking / Cabling / Decommissioning / Break-fix) on DC

Hardware e.g. Servers, Storage, Backup, Router, Switches firewall etc.

3-7 years of experience in managing datacenters operations of a large and complex customer.

Experience in Capacity planning for Rack space, power, cooling, DC modular containment,

necessary monitoring tools and services.

Handling Incidents / Service Request and adhering to contractual SLAs.

Coordinating with Various DC Vendors for new projects and Break fixes.

Supporting Project teams for new installations and decommissioning.

Routing DC Monitoring and Maintenance activities.

Soft Skills:

Flexible, continuous learner, excellent communicator, works well in team environment,

appreciates challenge, comfortable and effective working in new areas that require

experimentation and rapid problem solving.

Requires excellent inter-personal, communication and presentation skills.

Emergency communication system support including working with 3rd parties.

Knowledge Of Operational tools like deployment, provisioning, monitoring, performance

measurement tools etc.

Responsible for analyzing production operations and initiates corrective actions to ensure

operational stability and efficient workflow.

Excellent on Process adherence

Hands on knowledge on MS Office (Word / Excel / Power Point / Visio etc.)

DC Experience questions:

Console access

ELO/lDrac configs with IP addresses

Zoom/Google chat

MS suite to include Visio experience

Service Now ticketing systems

Server installations (racking/decommissions)

patch panel experience -Cross connects

SA's, Doer-checker

Team player

12 hour night shift experience

Reliable transportation

Communicate clearly on conf. calls and under pressure

The shift schedule consists of 4 days of work followed by 3 days off, then the next week has 3 days of work and 4 days off, with each shift being 12 hours.
