Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Databricks Solution Architect to design governed data, analytics, and AI platforms on Databricks for enterprise clients in North America. You will participate in pre-sales pursuits, shape solutions and proposals, and guide delivery teams through implementation and optimization across Azure, AWS, or GCP.

The role emphasizes governance with Unity Catalog, MLOps, and scalable lakehouse architectures, requiring 8+ years in data engineering or related fields and strong English

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering/architecture or software development with 3+ years on Databricks
• Hands-on Python and SQL; Scala is a plus
• Deep knowledge of Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL
• Experience with at least one major cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP)
• Proven experience leading large client-driven projects including pre-sales
• Experience with streaming tools such as Kafka, Event Hubs, Kinesis, or Flink
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Terraform, and Databricks Asset Bundles
• Working knowledge of AI on Databricks (Mosaic AI, Agent Bricks, MLflow)
• Strong English communication; US/Canada work authorization

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end Lakehouse architectures on Databricks (multi-cloud)
• Lead discovery workshops with executives and engineering teams
• Partner with sales to shape solutions, respond to RFPs, and build proposals
• Define target architectures and migration paths to Databricks
• Architect governance with Unity Catalog and data security
• Design AI solutions including LLMOps on Databricks
• Guide delivery teams through build, go-live, and optimization
• Run performance tuning and FinOps reviews for Spark workloads
