Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer / DBA with strong PTC Windchill expertise to support a major PLM infrastructure reboot initiative. The engineer will be responsible for designing, installing, configuring, optimizing, and supporting database infrastructure for production and non-production Windchill environments.
The role will support a large-scale PLM environment managing 120K+ parts and 600+ engineering change orders per month, with a critical focus on performance, reliability, scalability, backup/recovery, and high availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and manage databases supporting PTC Windchill PLM environments.
- Build and support production and non-production database environments.
- Administer Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases.
- Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Configure and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Implement and support high-availability and database resiliency solutions.
- Monitor database health, performance, storage, and availability.
- Troubleshoot database issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Support Windchill application teams with database architecture and integration requirements.
- Develop database standards, operational procedures, and documentation.
- Coordinate database activities for the PLM go-live and production transition.
- Ensure database environments meet performance, security, SLA, and availability requirements.
Required Skills
- 12+ years of database administration/engineering experience.
- Strong hands‑on experience with PTC Windchill database environments.
- Strong expertise in Oracle and/or PostgreSQL administration.
- Experience with database installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of backup/recovery and disaster recovery.
- Experience with High Availability (HA) and database resiliency.
- Strong understanding of database monitoring, capacity planning, and optimization.
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with PTC Windchill architecture and PLM infrastructure.
- Experience with large-scale manufacturing/engineering environments.
- Experience supporting critical production go-live initiatives.
- Knowledge of Windchill integrations and enterprise application infrastructure.
- Experience with cloud or hybrid database environments is a plus.
