Job summary

St Johns River Water Management District is seeking a Database Administrator II or III to design, develop, implement and maintain district-wide database environments. You will support modernization efforts including migrating from Oracle to PostgreSQL and off-loading workloads to cloud resources.

The role serves as a lead technical resource, collaborating with developers and stakeholders to translate data needs into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or MIS and 3 years of DBA experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL; 2 years experience with Linux/UNIX.
Two-year degree + 5 years DBA experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL; 2 years with Linux/UNIX.
Advanced degree may substitute for some experience; professional DBA experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain database engines, servers, and related software; optimize performance.
Monitor database performance and SQL query efficiency; diagnose and resolve data issues.
Manage user access controls and security per standards.
Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to translate data needs into technical solutions.
Develop backup and recovery procedures and support business continuity.
