This is a Database Administrator 2 position that will work closely with the Texas Health and Human and Services Commission (HHSC). This position is responsible for leading complex technical database activities for the information systems supporting the HHSC Division of regulatory Services. They will provide support in the development and maintenance of data warehouses and reporting systems. They will develop, test, debug and document highly complex program code to implement functional and design requirements for reporting systems in the agency.

This is a Database Administrator 2 position that will work closely with the Texas Health and Human and Services Commission (HHSC). This position is responsible for leading complex technical database activities for the information systems supporting the HHSC Division of regulatory Services. They will provide support in the development and maintenance of data warehouses and reporting systems. They will develop, test, debug and document highly complex program code to implement functional and design requirements for reporting systems in the agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter codes to create a production database
- Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to database management system
- Confers with coworkers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to database
- Modifies database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning
- Providing assistance in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, and ensuring that the conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with the structural parameters within the database environment
- Evaluate user requests for new data elements and systems, incorporate them into the existing shared data environment, and provide technical assistance
- Coordinate the use of data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy, load databases, and reorganize as needed
- Performs logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models
- Perform security recovery procedures
- Determines and implements database search strategies and storage requirements
- Maintains data dictionaries ensuring uniformity of definitions and set standards for use of data dictionaries
- Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements
- Create a test database environment for the application section, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures
- Execute the procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures within established procedures

Implement database objects in an Oracle cloud RDBMS, Salesforce CRM.

Advanced data modeler with experience in Design, creation, and maintenance data models representing production databases.

Write source to target mapping instructions as needed to support ETL development.

Develop stored procedures, database triggers and complex PL/SQL packages where needed.
