Job description

Andrew Morgan is a rapidly growing Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and HUBZone-certified organization. We are seeking a qualified Database Administrator to support a potential contract award with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Human Capital Services Center (HCSC) Information Technology (IT) Support Services. This position is contingent upon contract award and will play a critical role in supporting healthcare-related IT systems and data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The Database Administrator (DBA) will manage, optimize, and secure database systems that support VA healthcare operations. This role requires strong SQL expertise, cloud infrastructure familiarity, and a commitment to data security and performance. The ideal candidate will ensure data integrity and support compliance with federal healthcare standards.

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and ETL-based systems.
• Develop, optimize, and execute complex SQL queries to support data processing and reporting needs.
• Monitor and improve database performance through proactive tuning and troubleshooting.
• Ensure security, backup/recovery, and compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other industry regulations.
• Implement and maintain cloud-based database solutions, including migrations and upgrades.
• Collaborate with developers, IT teams, and stakeholders to support system performance and structure.
• Provide technical support for database-related issues and contribute to disaster recovery planning.
  
  

Requirements

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in the healthcare industry.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, ETL processes, and MySQL.
• Expertise in developing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and database integration with cloud-based platforms.

• Experience working with large-scale healthcare databases and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with data security standards such as HIPAA and HITECH.
• Experience with database automation, scripting, and data warehousing.
• Understanding of data analytics and reporting tools.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with both location and experience.
