Job summary

Grant Thornton is seeking a Data Transformation & Governance Manager to join GTech. This role embeds governance, quality, stewardship, compliance, and data standards into transformation initiatives so that data from acquired companies is accurate, secure, compliant, and ready for analytics and business decision‑making.

We require experience governing unstructured content, establishing data owners, and driving defensible disposal and retention across merger and acquisition programs.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data governance, transformation, management, or related roles.
• Experience applying governance to data migration, modernization, archival, and analytics.
• Experience governing unstructured content alongside structured data.
• Working knowledge of retention scheduling, defensible disposal, and holds.
• Experience in merger/acquired-entity data integration preferred.
• Strong communication and executive reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply and extend enterprise data governance frameworks for acquired‑company integration.
• Embed governance into data migration, modernization, archival, and analytics enablement.
• Maintain a view of the full data estate across acquisitions, including unstructured content.
• Catalog acquired‑company content by category, ownership, and disposition.
• Advise teams on content handling during migration and retention decisions.
• Assess unstructured content for regulated material and define handling requirements.
• Drive data ownership assignments and obtain approvals for new uses of data.
• Manage external sharing and third‑party access approvals.
• Identify ownership gaps and drive review or removal of unowned data.
• Classify data for retention and define disposal timing with owners.
• Coordinate defensible disposal and hold status before actions.
• Collaborate with legal, risk, compliance on governance maturity and reporting.
