Job summary

Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) – TheReliableOne is seeking a Data Systems Engineering Intern in Orlando, FL. You will work with the Data Delivery and Analytics team to support data quality, governance, and analytics initiatives.

Responsibilities include partnering with cloud architects, mapping data lineage, and developing dashboards to guide technology expansion and data product success. Hybrid schedule, part-time hours, and compensation align with internship norms.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college/university with senior or master's status.
• GPA 3.0+ at the time of application.

• Previous internship experience preferred.

• Document data lineage, establish standards, and develop domain-oriented data architecture with stakeholders.
• Develop models and dashboards to provide actionable insights for technology expansion, migrations, and data product success.

OUC – TheReliableOne,an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida,is offering an internship program in the Emerging Technology division.The OUC Internship Program is dedicated to providing students with real-world, hands‑on experience by partnering with energy leaders and experienced professionals, while bringing new and out-of‑the‑box perspectives and ideas that are essential for fostering the creativity and growth of any business.

We are looking for a Data Systems Engineering Intern. During this internship, you will partner with the Data Delivery and Analytics team.

You will be involved in:

• Partnering with cloud architects and business leaders to support strategic planning and financial forecasting related to SaaS usage.
• Evaluate the current data ecosystem to assess gaps in data quality, controls, and risk exposure across end-to-end processes.
• Define and implement scalable data quality rules, monitoring mechanisms, and risk mitigation controls.
• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to integrate quality and risk frameworks into data pipelines, reporting, and governance practices.
• Work closely with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to document data lineage, establish standards, and develop a domain-oriented data architecture.
• Develop models and dashboards that provide actionable insights to guide technology expansion, migration strategies, and evaluation of data product success.

Internship Eligibility:

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
• Academic status of Senior or Master’s.
• Program of study: Systems and Industrial Engineering, Data analytics, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or Engineering Management.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Previous internship experience preferred

• Strong academic foundation in Systems Architecture, Process & Simulation, IT Integration, Predictive Analytics and Data analytics.
• Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

• Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.

Compensation: $18 - $21 per hour, varies depending on the education level

Schedule: Part-Time (up to 25 hours per week) from January 11th, 2027 to May 7th, 2027 following a Hybrid Schedule
