Job summary

OUC - The Reliable One in Orlando seeks a Sustainability Intern to join the Conservation division. You will partner with the Customer Service & Sales teams to support programs and initiatives focused on carbon reduction and resource conservation.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong research, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to develop engagement campaigns and present insights to leadership. On-site, part-time internship with hands-on learning and projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
• Academic status of Sophomore or above.
• Program of study aligned with sustainability and environmental fields.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at application time.

Responsibilities

• Support the Sustainability Department in ongoing initiatives and operations.
• Collaborate on projects focused on carbon reduction, water and energy conservation, and outreach.
• Conduct research to identify emerging sustainability trends and opportunities.
• Promote sustainability programs and expand reach to new audiences.
• Assist with data analysis to uncover actionable insights and support the mission.

Job description

OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Conservation division. The OUC Internship Program is dedicated to providing students with real-world, hands-on experience by partnering with energy leaders and experienced professionals, while bringing new and out-of-the-box perspectives and ideas that are essential for fostering the creativity and growth of any business. OUC's internship program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of the utility industry through on-the-job training, educational sessions, self-paced learning courses, and individual or team projects.

We are looking for a Sustainability Intern. During this internship, you will partnering with the Customer Service & Sales team.

You will be involved in:

• Support the Sustainability Department at Orlando Utilities Commission in ongoing initiatives and operations.
• Collaborate with sustainability specialists on projects and programs focused on carbon reduction, water and energy conservation, and community outreach.
• Conduct research to identify emerging sustainability trends and opportunities.
• Contribute to promoting sustainability programs and expanding their reach to new audiences.
• Assist with data analysis to uncover actionable insights and help advance the organization’s mission to conserve resources and reduce its carbon footprint.

Internship Eligibility:

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
• Academic status of Sophomore or above.
• Program of study: Environmental Engineer, Environmental Science, Geology, Marine Sciences, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Public Policy, Sustainable Studies, Environmental Design, Environmental Law, Hydrology, Horticulture or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Previous internship experience preferred

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Strong academic foundation in Environmental Engineering, Public Policy or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong research skills with the ability to create reporting and analyze the data.
• Creative thinker with experience or aptitude in developing marketing campaigns and engagement strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present insights and recommendations to leadership and diverse audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and support collaborative team efforts.

$17 per hour, varies depending on the education level

Schedule

Part-Time (up to 25 hours per week) from January 11th, 2027 to May 7th,2027 following a On-Site Schedule
