Novacore is hiring a Data Scientist for Underwriting Analytics from its Conshohocken, PA home office. The role blends actuarial output with underwriting action, building models to distribute loss costs and identify segmentation.

You’ll use SQL, Python, GLMs, and AI tools to craft guideline changes and offer data-driven pricing levers. You’ll collaborate with actuarial and product teams in a hybrid setting, driving profitability while maintaining competitive terms.

Qualifications

• Strong grounding in mathematical statistics, actuarial science, and practical insurance/underwriting fundamentals.
• Data science, Actuarial or actuarial-adjacent background with exams or credentialing.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in P&C insurance analytics or underwriting support.

Responsibilities

• Translate underwriting guidelines into structured, version-controlled rule sets.
• Build underwriting models using actuarial loss costs and target loss ratios.
• Apply GLMs, predictive modeling, and clustering to identify segmentation opportunities.
• Leverage AI tools to automate guideline codification and analysis.
• Develop actionable underwriting levers (eligibility, terms, pricing) with stakeholders.
• Document findings and build reusable frameworks across programs.
