Job summary

Northwestern University is seeking a Data Scientist to enable data-driven fundraising and engagement strategies within the Alumni Relations and Development organization. The role emphasizes advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and data engineering to deliver scalable data science solutions across the advancement ecosystem.

The position requires translating stakeholder questions into scalable, actionable insights and operating models for fundraising and operations teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in data-related field.
3–5 years in data science, analytics, or quantitative roles.
Strong SQL (Oracle preferred) and Python skills.
Experience building and deploying predictive models in production.
Experience with Tableau and Cognos for reporting/visualization.
Ability to translate analysis into actionable business insights.
Experience in fundraising or higher education analytics is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop and deploy predictive models for fundraising, campaigns, and operations.
Collaborate with leadership to identify data-driven opportunities.
Design data pipelines and feature engineering for models.
Translate outputs into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Integrate model outputs into CRM, dashboards, and workflows.
Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance across analytics.
Monitor and refine models as data and needs evolve.
Help build scalable analytics infrastructure for the organization.
