Job summary

NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission seeks a Data Scientist to join the Data Analytics Unit within TLC’s Policy & Community Affairs Division. The role focuses on managing data pipelines, improving data governance, and integrating cloud-based solutions with legacy systems.

Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, you will work on projects related to traffic congestion, fare regulation, driver pay, and electrification initiatives, collaborating with leadership and stakeholders across the agency.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• For Assignment Level II, a doctorate with 1 year supervisory/research experience; or a master's with 3 years of relevant research experience; or equivalent combinations with at least a master’s degree and two years of experience as City Research Scientist Level I.
• Two years as City Research Scientist Level I can substitute for some experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct statistical analysis and produce maintainable, reproducible code to inform policy.
• Manage complex data projects through iterative project cycles, policy and methodology research.
• Respond promptly to ad hoc requests and deliver accurate analysis.
• Collaborate with team members, present to senior staff and external stakeholders, and mentor others.

Education

Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental science or public health

Doctorate degree in physical, biological, environmental or social science with experience OR Master's with 3+ years research
