Whataburger is seeking a Data Scientist Intern based at the San Antonio Home Office to turn data into insights that support better decisions across the business. You'll work with analytics and technology teams on data preparation, exploration, reporting, and model development in a real-world setting.

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program.
• Completion of at least 80 college credit hours.
• Foundational knowledge of Python programming.
• Basic understanding of SQL and data querying concepts.

Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience

As a Data Scientist Intern, you must have:

• Current enrollment in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program.

Extra Toppings — Desired Experience

As a Data Scientist Intern, we prefer you to have:

• Coursework in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience working with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or scikit‑learn.
• Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts and predictive modeling.
• Experience using Git or other version control tools.
• Exposure to cloud‑based analytics or development platforms.
• Experience working on team projects using Agile methodologies.
• Curiosity for emerging technologies and data‑driven innovation.

Where & How You’ll Work

This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays.

In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross‑functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills.

Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
