Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Data Scientist Level 2 to support the VISTA MT&E Team. This role develops machine learning, data mining, statistical, and graph-based algorithms to analyze complex datasets, build models, and generate data-driven insights.

You will work with SMEs, software engineers, and cloud developers to translate mission needs into scalable analytics. The position emphasizes production analytics, scalable model development, and collaboration across data, software, and cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience analyzing datasets and developing analytics.
• Proficiency in Python and R for data manipulation and modeling.
• Strong foundation in statistics and probability, incl. regression and hypothesis testing.
• Experience with ML algorithms and frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn).
• Data wrangling and transforming complex datasets into usable formats.
• Familiarity with SQL and databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and Matplotlib.

Responsibilities

• Produce data visualizations to reveal dataset structure and meaning.
• Extract information from raw data using scripts across formats (SQL, metadata, logs).
• Create feature vectors for analytic development and testing.
• Translate qualitative requirements into quantitative software prototypes.
• Develop statistical, ML, and heuristic analytics for descriptive, predictive, prescriptive tasks.
• Evaluate analytics with ROC, cross-validation, and confusion matrices.
• Guide analytic development and ensure scalable solutions for large datasets.
• Collaborate with engineers to productionize analytics.
