Metrics LLC is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist (Biomedical Modeling & Analytics) as we compete for a contract with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In this pivotal role, you will support groundbreaking biomedical research by developing and implementing advanced analytics and computational models that integrate complex clinical and biological data. Your work will drive translational science initiatives and empower researchers and stakeholders to make meaningful, data-driven decisions. This position is expected to be on-site at the client location, enabling close collaboration with researchers, informatics specialists, and federal partners.

In this pivotal role, you will support groundbreaking biomedical research by developing and implementing advanced analytics and computational models that integrate complex clinical and biological data. Your work will drive translational science initiatives and empower researchers and stakeholders to make meaningful, data-driven decisions. This position is expected to be on-site at the client location, enabling close collaboration with researchers, informatics specialists, and federal partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data science and statistical modeling pipelines for the analysis and interpretation of large-scale biomedical and clinical datasets.
  • Integrate multi-modal data (e.g., molecular, clinical, omics) to advance translational research and support experimental design and discovery.
  • Apply machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computational modeling methodologies to solve biomedical research challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, health informatics SMEs, clinicians, and industry or academic partners, to understand requirements and deliver tailored analytics solutions.
  • Create impactful data visualizations, interpret results, and generate reports to communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure data analytics processes comply with relevant security, privacy, and federal regulatory standards.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain reproducible code, workflows, and documentation to support ongoing research and compliance.
  • Contribute to technical reports, publications, and stakeholder presentations as needed.
  • Participate in the maintenance and enhancement of scientific computing, data models, and analytics platforms.
  • Research and implement emerging data science tools and methods to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience applying data science techniques (such as machine learning, statistical modeling, or simulation) to large-scale biomedical or clinical data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools commonly used for data analytics (such as Python, R, or similar).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate federal background investigation or security clearance as required for government projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.
  • Experience integrating and analyzing multi-omic, clinical, or chemical/biological datasets in research or healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms, scientific workflow management tools, and secure data handling practices.
  • Knowledge of federal data standards, privacy, and security requirements (such as HIPAA, FISMA, or Section 508 compliance).
