OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a data-driven professional who enjoys working at the intersection of people, technology, and strategy. In this role, you won’t just analyze data—you’ll collaborate across teams, lead initiatives, and help shape how data is used to drive meaningful decisions across the organization.

You’ll partner with stakeholders in IT and NOVEC business units to transform complex, decentralized data into clear insights and scalable solutions. This position combines hands‑on analytics with project coordination and process improvement, making it ideal for someone who thrives on both technical problem‑solving and cross‑functional collaboration.

If you’re someone who enjoys turning ambiguity into structure, guiding projects from concept to execution, and building relationships while delivering data‑driven impact, this role offers a unique opportunity to do all three.

The position is hybrid in Manassas, VA after an initial on‑site introductory period of up to 4 months. Relocation assistance is available for the successful eligible candidate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Analysis and Modeling
  • Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze complex datasets.
  • Extract, clean, and preprocess data from various sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data to provide actionable insights.
Automation and Optimization
  • Design and deploy automated data pipelines and workflows to streamline data collection, processing, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting tools and dashboards to deliver real‑time insights.
  • Implement and optimize data processing algorithms to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, product, and business units, to understand data requirements and provide technical expertise.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Provide guidance on data‑driven decision‑making and best practices for automation.
Technology and Tools
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and automation tasks.
  • Leverage data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar for presenting insights.
  • Implement and manage data automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, AWS Glue).
  • Stay up‑to‑date with the latest trends and advancements in data science and automation technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for improving existing data processes and automation systems.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for data science and automation within the organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in security operations, administration, networks, IT operations, and maintenance in on‑premises and cloud environments.
  • Understanding of Cloud networking, security, and governance principles.
  • Experience in the utility industry is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical methodology to problem‑solving and decision‑making and relate theoretical and technical concepts to practical application.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels of staff, both orally and in writing, while maintaining professionalism under all circumstances.
  • Sound problem‑resolution, judgment, and decision‑making skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract administration and current IT technologies that apply to the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce results in a data‑intensive environment. Demonstrated ability to learn and understand information systems requirements to deliver results quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain the integrity of sensitive material and confidential business data.
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills and abilities.
  • Perform job responsibilities promptly and accurately within established guidelines under minimal supervision while providing superior customer service.
