Job summary

Highmark Health is offering the Summer 2027 Data Science Research & Development (DSRD) Graduate Internship for graduate students to apply advanced data science, machine learning, AI, and software engineering to healthcare challenges.

Interns will collaborate with researchers, data scientists, ML engineers, and software developers on projects spanning knowledge graphs, medical imaging, predictive modeling, and AI applications, using clinical and healthcare data to drive healthcare transformation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Pursuance of a graduate degree full or part‑time in an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, clientele, and other stakeholders in planning assignments and resolving day‑to‑day problems.
• Under supervision, provide professional services aligned to day‑to‑day objectives and receive mentoring from senior personnel.
• Undertake and participate in projects to develop professional skills and expertise.
• Participate in planning and implementing unit projects within area of expertise.
• Conduct research and reporting with recommendations or alternatives for action as requested by management.
• Undertake related studies or enrichment programs relevant to objectives of the operating unit.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
