Job summary

Lyft is seeking a Data Science intern to join the team in San Francisco for Summer 2027. You will work on optimization, ML, and inference problems across the marketplace, collaborating with engineers and product managers.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Masters or PhD with strong Python, data analysis, and modeling skills, and an interest in two-sided marketplaces and transportation contexts.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD in mathematical sciences or related field.
• Graduation date between Dec 2027 and Jun 2028 is required.
• Available Summer 2027 for an internship in San Francisco.
• Experience coding in Python is required; SQL or R also accepted.

Responsibilities

• Frame problems mathematically and within business context with cross-functional partners.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to understand problems.
• Write production modeling code and collaborate with engineers to deploy algorithms.
• Design and run simulated and live traffic experiments.
• Analyze data and communicate findings to partner teams to aid launch decisions.
