Job summary

Lyft is seeking a Data Science intern in San Francisco to tackle math-heavy problems across optimization, ML, and inference. You will work with a Science Manager and cross-functional partners, framing problems precisely and building models that influence product decisions.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Masters or PhD in related fields, available Summer 2027 in SF, with strong Python and ML library experience. This internship is hybrid with in-office days in SF.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD with graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Available during Summer 2027 for an internship in San Francisco.
• Experience coding in Python and ML libraries (NumPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras).

Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineers, Product Managers, and cross-functional teams to frame problems mathematically and business-wise.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to gain deeper problem understanding.
• Write production modeling code and collaborate with software engineers to deploy algorithms.
• Design and run both simulated and live traffic experiments.
• Analyze data and present findings to partner teams to inform launches.
