Job summary

The Nuclear Company in Washington DC is seeking a Data Science Intern to perform applied data science on NOS, framing questions, wrangling data, building models, and delivering actionable analyses to leaders.

You will forecast megaproject cost and schedule, extend the NOS data model, and collaborate with full-time data scientists to ship production-ready work. This 12-week summer program begins May 2027 and is on-site in DC.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS or MS in Data Science, Statistics, CS, or a related quantitative field with expected graduation between Dec 2027 and Jun 2028.
• Strong Python and data stack (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) with working knowledge of SQL.
• Foundation in statistics and probability with a track record of completed data analysis.
• U.S. export controls require U.S. Person status; visa sponsorship is not provided.
• Willing and able to work on-site in Washington DC, five days a week, for 12 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Frame business and engineering questions with stakeholders and source, clean, and explore data.
• Build and validate models (forecasting, classification, anomaly detection, decision analysis) for megaproject cost, schedule, and risk.
• Engineer features and extend the NOS ontology and data model across domains.
• Build data pipelines across Palantir Foundry, AWS GovCloud, and more.
• Design dashboards and analyses used by operators, engineers, and executives to make decisions.
