Job summary

Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. is offering a Data Science Intern position for Summer 2027 in New York, NY.

You will support the development of statistical, machine learning, and GenAI techniques for underwriting, pricing, and claims, and contribute to building scalable analytics products with strong security practices. The role emphasizes collaboration across functions, exploration of bias and fairness, and exposure to leadership within a fast-growing analytics team.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate degree in CS, Statistics, Data Science/Analytics, Applied Math or equivalent
• Experience with Python, SQL, or R (Python favored) and handling varied data sources
• Familiarity with analytics across modeling lifecycle: data gathering, design, testing, implementation, communication

Responsibilities

• Support development of statistical, ML, and GenAI techniques for underwriting, pricing, and claims models
• Assist in building solutions to improve quality and speed of core processes
• Research new data modeling approaches to unlock insights
• Collaborate across Munich Re functions to inform business decisions
• Network with existing data science groups at Munich Re
