Job summary

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is seeking a Data Requests Support position to provide administrative assistance for data requests, including intake, tracking, and ensuring complete, accurate responses. This confidential role works closely with the Office Manager to process requests professionally.

The role requires adherence to Minnesota public records laws, careful redaction, and discretion when handling confidential information.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years' experience in public records, records management, or similar.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and assess privacy concerns.
  • Experience navigating public records laws and redaction processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support responses to information requests under public records laws.
  • Intake, track, and update data request statuses.
  • Maintain confidentiality and identify sensitive information.
  • Redact information and apply exemptions as needed.
  • Maintain Data Requests log and assist with scope definition.

Job description

Provides administrative and procedural support for Data Requests. Intakes, tracks, and updates request statuses. Supports the Office Manager to respond completely, accurately, and professionally to data requests. This is a Confidential position.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Support MPRB’s response to requests for information under Minnesota’s public records laws, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
  • Maintain confidentiality in work-related matters.
  • Apply appropriate redactions and assess risks within records.
  • Prioritize, navigate, and balance multiple requests.
  • Communicate with requestors and assist with defining the scope of records requests.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff and managers to identify requested information.
  • Review, identify, and redact information across various media.
  • Maintain Data Requests log.
  • Identify confidential, exempt, and sensitive information in responsive records.
  • Transcribe audio statements or materials as they relate to data request responses.
  • Adapt to changing technology, Statutes, and guidelines.
  • Conduct research through multiple record management systems and databases to fulfill requests.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Experience in public records, records management, records compliance, legal records, or similar: Two (2) years of experience

  • Local, state, and federal public disclosure and privacy laws
  • Administrative and clerical procedures and systems
  • Cultural competence in engaging people from diverse communities.
  • Outstanding customer service principles and practices and standards for a diverse customer base.
Compensation and Benefits

$22-$28 per hour.

You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
