Job summary

Ancestry.com Operations Inc. seeks a Data & Reporting – Content Analyst in Draper, UT to analyze product engagement using quantitative and qualitative data and to run experiments.

You will leverage data sources, build tools to improve experimentation throughput, and collaborate with product management to translate insights into actions. Telecommuting may be permitted depending on business need.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Stats, Math, Business Analytics or related field plus 2 years of experience.
  • Experience using Python, SQL or similar languages to analyze data across complex systems.
  • Experience creating reports/visualizations using Excel or Tableau or similar tools.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis of production data to identify data quality issues.
  • Strong knowledge of multivariate statistics and exploratory data analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product release readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in product planning, design, execution, review, and continuous feature improvement.
  • Run exploratory analyses, generate hypotheses, and assess opportunities using both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Implement and analyze A/B or Multi-Variate Tests to measure impact of product decisions.
  • Collaborate with partners to translate problems into technical analyses that explain what happened and why.
  • Work with Data Warehouse to make online and offline data accessible across platforms.
  • Analyze user engagement and satisfaction data to understand what and why.

Ancestry.com Operations Inc. seeks Data & Reporting – Content Analyst in Draper, UT

Job Duties: Participate in product planning, new product design, execution, review, and continuous product feature improvement. Run exploratory analyses, uncover new areas of opportunity, generate hypotheses, and quickly assess the potential update of a given opportunity, by leveraging both quantitative and qualitative customer satisfaction survey data. Implement and analyze A/B or Multi-Variate Tests to measure the impact of product decisions and changes. Collaborate with business partners to identify critical business problems/key knowledge and translate them into technical analyses that explain what happened and why. Identify and understand various data sources; build tools and services to improve analysis and experimentation throughput, and work with Data Warehouse team to make online and offline data cross platforms available. Work with Ancestry’s product management team to analyze and decipher insights to understand user product engagement (what and why) by leveraging both quantitative and qualitative customer satisfaction survey data. Telecommuting may be permitted depending on business need.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a closely related field plus 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:
  • Experience using Python, or SQL, or similar scripting/querying languages to analyze and validate data across complex systems and customer workflows (2 years).
  • Experience creating reports and visualizations using Microsoft Excel, or Tableau, or similar tools, presenting product performance KPIs, user behavior trends, and insights to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders (2 years)
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis of production data using techniques like log analysis and defect clustering to identify systemic data quality and reliability issues, including detecting data anomalies and trends to support product improvements (1 year).
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, systems, and product management, to analyze product requirements, system constraints, and customer use cases, to support product release readiness (1 year).
  • Strong foundational knowledge in multivariate statistical modeling including hypothesis testing, exploratory data analysis, correlation analysis and regression.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in machine learning methodologies, including supervised learning techniques for classification and regression (e.g., Random Forests, Decision Trees, Naive Bayes), along with model performance evaluation using standard metrics for robust validation.
