Job summary

Ancestry.com Operations Inc. seeks Associate Software Engineer in Draper, UT

Job Duties:

As a critical part of the Data Platform team, scale and validate the data platform to meet Ancestry’s data growth. Develop, deploy, and support a real-time data observability application to track thousands of data pipelines. Deploy IaC (Infrastructure as Code) to lay down the infrastructure that the data pipelines utilize. Engage in RESTful web service development. 100% telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the U.S.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus 1 year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Relational database development with a focus on MySQL, including ability to write complex SQL queries and design relational database schemas (1 year)
2. Relational database optimization in MySQL performance tuning by utilizing the query plan and indexing strategies (1 year)
3. Using Java backend development with Spring Boot JPA or Spring JDBC to create database applications (1 year)
4. Java backend development using Spring Boot to design and implement RESTful APIs and service-based applications (1 year)
5. Using Maven to build applications (1 year)
6. JavaScript frontend development using VueJS for web page development (1 year)
7. Deploying services in AWS cloud-based ecosystem (1 year)
