Job description

Job Summary

The Subject Matter Expert in Reconciliation demonstrates mastery in their domain and continuously expands their expertise in new reconciliation tools and processes. They identify opportunities to improve accuracy and scalability, offering solutions through collaboration with internal teams, leadership, and external contacts. They are a trusted advisor and consultant for the reconciliation department, supporting teams with complex tasks and projects to ensure client success. They provide ongoing education on technology updates and serve as a consultant internally and externally, covering the entire reconciliation process from aggregation to enrichment and delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct 8–10 small‑group training courses for the department each year.
  • Maintain quality reconciliation and operational performance, ensuring adherence to client expectations, SOC1 compliance, and providing support for internal audit queries.
  • Recommend and advise on system improvements, monitor design progress, and prepare design updates for the department.
  • Anticipate challenging assets, conduct research, and provide guidance on expected challenges internally and externally.
  • Lead automation initiatives, serving as a sought‑after resource for reconcilers and Operations staff.
  • Resolve critical issues and address broad design matters using professional concepts.
  • Participate in client visits, external data provider meetings, auditors, User Conferences, and other industry conferences.
  • Drive improvements in functionality for the most challenging issues, such as Month End, Yellows, and Complex Assets.
  • Leverage resources and identify tools for research, mentoring other SMEs to achieve project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with management to complete 6+ projects annually supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Manage team assignments, balance workload, and ensure client success while meeting leadership expectations.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate projects to improve 6+ strategic initiatives annually, using Lean Six Sigma practices.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and lead implementation of solutions that have a positive impact on the department.
Required Skills
  • Advanced understanding of end‑to‑end data flow and tools in the reconciliation process.
  • Basic understanding of all aspects of recon and system interactions.
  • Strong analytical ability to anticipate outcomes and choose best solutions.
  • Data‑driven approach to coordinate team and department efforts to exceed KPIs.
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation, verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in reconciling accounts.
  • Preferably 1+ year of experience in another department or team.

Salary Range: $102,000 – $144,000. Benefits: Health/vision/dental insurance, 401(k), PTO, parental leave, medical leave, and STD/LTD insurance.
