Job summary

Optomi Professional Services is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead large-scale technical initiatives encompassing Big Data, BI, analytics, data engineering, APIs, dashboards, and data visualization.

You will partner with Product, Analytics, Data Engineering, and other stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable requirements and drive initiatives from concept through deployment and ongoing support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, Program Manager, Delivery Lead, or similar role.
• Experience managing Big Data, BI, Analytics, Data Engineering, or data projects.
• Experience leading large cross-functional teams in a technical environment.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, data analytics, BI, data visualization.
• Experience delivering from concept to concrete solution or product.
• Ability to understand technical concepts when coordinating with engineering and data teams.
• Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead large-scale technical projects involving Big Data, Business Intelligence (BI), analytics, data engineering, APIs, dashboards, and data visualization. This role will work closely with Product, Analytics, Data Engineering, and other technical and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable technical requirements and successfully drive initiatives from concept through implementation and ongoing support.

The ideal candidate is a strong cross-functional leader who can operate effectively in a highly technical environment, manage complex initiatives, troubleshoot issues quickly, and coordinate multiple teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Analytics, Data Engineering, and other technical teams to define business requirements, functional requirements, API specifications, and technical requirements.
• Translate business needs and requirements into clear, actionable technical requirement documentation and project deliverables.
• Own and manage projects from initial concept and planning through implementation, validation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Lead project execution across key implementation phases, including instrumentation, data validation, analytics development, dashboard creation, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and deliverables.
• Coordinate large, cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data, and other stakeholder groups.
• Serve as the primary project management point of contact, ensuring alignment across technical and business teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, status reviews, and stakeholder communications.
• Identify project risks, technical challenges, dependencies, and potential roadblocks and drive timely resolution.
• Monitor project progress, deliverables, and performance against established timelines and objectives.
• Ensure technical and business stakeholders remain aligned on requirements, priorities, scope, and expected outcomes.
• Support the development and implementation of data, analytics, BI, API, and visualization solutions.
• Coordinate validation and quality activities to ensure data and analytics deliverables meet defined requirements.
• Communicate project status, risks, issues, and key decisions to leadership and stakeholders.
• Apply appropriate project management methodologies and processes based on the needs of the initiative.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, Program Manager, Delivery Lead, or similar role supporting large-scale technical initiatives.
• Experience managing Big Data, Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Engineering, or other data-focused technical projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading or managing large cross-functional teams in a technical environment.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, data analytics, BI, data visualization, and technical project delivery.
• Experience managing initiatives from concept and planning through implementation and delivery of a concrete solution or product.
• Ability to understand and apply technical concepts when managing complex projects and working with engineering and data teams.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and drive issues to resolution quickly.
• Experience working with both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and dependencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification.
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or other Agile certification.
• Experience working with APIs, API specifications, and data integrations.
• Experience with data instrumentation, data validation, and analytics implementation.
• Experience with BI and data visualization platforms and dashboard development.
• Experience working directly with Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, and Software Engineering teams.
• Experience managing large-scale, highly visible, or technically complex initiatives.
• Experience working in environments involving large datasets, distributed data systems, or enterprise analytics platforms.
