Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our Data Platform team. You’ll help design, build, and operate core data systems powering our AI-first SaaS products, collaborating with experienced engineers to scale storage, streaming, and orchestration.

You’ll work on end-to-end features, apply GenAI techniques for smarter developer/operator experiences, and grow technically in a fast-paced environment with strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of professional experience in software engineering: backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure preferred.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or a similar language; experience counts from school, personal projects, or work.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, code quality, testing, and debugging.
• Interest in learning AWS, Databricks, and stack technologies (databases, streaming, orchestration).
• Curiosity, problem-solving, and willingness to ask questions; ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and operation of core components of Abnormal’s data platform.
• Build tools and services that enable other teams to adopt and scale data systems.
• Help automate infrastructure and operations to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Apply cutting-edge GenAI techniques to build smarter developer and operator experiences.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to solve scalability and reliability challenges.
• Take ownership of projects, delivering features end-to-end with guidance from senior engineers.
