Job summary

TikTok USDS Joint Venture is seeking a seasoned Data Platform Lead in Seattle to guide a team of data engineers. You will own end-to-end data platform design, development, testing, deployment and optimization for large-scale batch and real-time processing.

You will collaborate with Product, Analytics and Data Science to translate business needs into scalable data solutions, define metrics, and drive data quality and governance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years building and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms in large-scale distributed data systems with at least 3+ years in engineering leadership overseeing technical teams.
• Hands-on experience in scalable data solutions with big data processing and distributed storage engines such as Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Druid, ClickHouse.
• Deep understanding of modern data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses and lakehouse patterns.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing and analytics.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership and continuous improvement.
• Oversee project management and cross functional collaboration ensuring high quality delivery across project lifecycle.
• Design and build scalable big data platforms, pipelines and services supporting large-scale batch and real-time data processing.
• Define and drive architecture standards, including data modeling, pipeline design and data quality frameworks to ensure trusted datasets.
• Own end-to-end delivery of data solutions from design through development, testing, deployment and optimization.
• Partner with Product, Analytics, Data Science and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Define key metrics and leverage data to measure performance, guide prioritization and support decision making.
• Optimize large-scale data processing systems for performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Establish strong execution practices, including planning, prioritization and delivery governance across multiple initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy and security standards in all data solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts and data insights effectively to both technical and executive audiences.
