Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Austin, Texas seeks a Data Engineering Manager to lead the Data Platform Management (DPM) team within GOES. You will guide a group of data engineers and DBAs, delivering reporting and analytics applications and migrating to AWS-native infrastructure.

You will own the data platform roadmap, drive security and compliance, and balance build versus buy decisions while partnering with WWGST leadership and business stakeholders across Amazon.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and operating data structures for BI analytics.
• 7+ years data engineering experience.
• 5+ years with massively parallel data platforms (Redshift, Spark, etc.).
• 5+ years relational DB experience (Redshift, Oracle, MSSQL).
• Experience managing a data/BI team.
• Strong communication to senior management.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineers and DBAs, focusing on performance and career growth.
• Own on-call rotation, data delivery, and ongoing data pipelines.
• Oversee production change management, plans, approvals, schedules.
• Ensure security and compliance reviews, credential rotation, audits.
• Define roadmap for data and reporting solutions with stakeholders.
• Set technical standards for data models, ETL/ELT, and DB architectures.
• Drive AWS-native modernization, balance build/buy/migrate decisions.
• Coordinate cross-functional planning with multiple teams.
