Job summary

Excellus BCBS is seeking a Manager of Data Platform Administration to lead a team responsible for planning, design, and maintenance of data systems and platforms. The role communicates with users to capture needs and ensure standards are followed across Databricks, IBM Cognos, Power BI, and SAS environments.

The position requires strong leadership, strategic planning and the ability to mentor professionals while managing resources and budgets.

Qualifications

• 7+ years related work experience.
• Advanced expertise in database design, development, testing and maintenance for production ready systems.
• Advanced expertise in structured systems analysis and design, user relations, data gathering techniques, and MIS.
• Experience supervising or managing people and/or projects.
• Strong communication across all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and controls the activities of the analysis, design, development, and installation phases of the systems lifecycle.
• Reviews service requests and consults with sponsors and users to clarify intent and discuss alternatives.
• Estimates staffing, costs and time for projects; uses PM tools to track progress and ensure schedules.
• Reviews and approves major deliverables of the systems development methodology and ensures walkthroughs.
• Interacts with data center management for resolution of system issues and efficient resource utilization.
• Assists IS Planning Manager in developing corporate information systems and development sequencing.
• Advises subordinates on policies, priorities and methods.
• Interviews, selects, trains and mentors Data Platform Administration professionals.
• Ensures resources are planned and costs maintained within corporate guidelines.
• Maintains high integrity with company mission and privacy policies.
