Job summary

Wonderschool is hiring a Data Lead to build the foundational data layer for our commercial product, government platform, and AI coaching agents. This is a hands-on role where you will write SQL, ship models, load data, and own the trusted model of providers, children, and families.

You will use AI agents to scale data operations and ensure governance, masking, and audit trails across regulated environments. This role reports to the CEO and is based in San Francisco, in-office.

Qualifications

• First data hire at a startup with governance, masking, and audit trails in regulated environments.
• Experience shipping data work in govtech/healthtech/fintech contexts with data pipelines and scale.

Responsibilities

• Build canonical data model for providers, sites, children, and families across multiple data stores.
• Own data delivery for state government platform: Data Hub sync and data migrations.
• Lead identity resolution and deduplication across legacy state systems.
• Define business metrics and make them self-serve for operations teams.
• Maintain data quality through monitoring, alerts, lineage and governance.
