Bloomberg is seeking a data journalist to join Bloomberg Games on a contract basis in New York. You will ingest, clean and search databases, supporting the development of a new game with Bloomberg’s data expertise.

The role emphasizes databases over visuals and requires newsroom rigor, accuracy and clear sourcing. Experience in data journalism (3+ years), familiarity with economics, business, technology or politics, and comfort with numbers are essential.

Qualifications

• At least three years in data journalism or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with newsrooms and handling datasets.
• Ability to ingest, clean and query large databases with rigor.
• Familiarity with games is a plus and curiosity about games culture.

Responsibilities

• Collect and manage dozens of databases from internal and external sources.
• Vet data sets for provenance, accuracy and utility.
• Use data sets to generate daily programming for the game.
• Consult on game design, UX and UI during development.
