Bloomberg Industry Group seeks a Data Reporter to turn raw data into compelling investigative stories. You will search for, acquire, and analyze data across legal, financial, and government topics, producing data-driven reports with impact.
Collaborate with reporters, editors, and our creative team; use R or Python for analysis and JavaScript (D3/Svelte) for visualization to bring data to readers.
Ambitious. Creative. Attention to detail. If thatdescribes you, keep reading. Bloomberg Industry Group, one of Washington's busiest newsrooms, seeks a Data Reporter to help us write and visualize stories with impact. This is your opportunity to join an innovative team dedicated to deep reporting and compelling investigative journalism. We tell stories by digging into Bloomberg's extensive data sources, from legal data dives to investigative reporting on the news of the day. The key skills we are looking for in this position: deep understanding of how to take raw data and find the story, then explain what you've found to fellow reporters, editors and ultimately readers. You know data is the start of the story, not the story itself. Proficiency in R or Python is required. This is a highly collaborative position, and you'll be expected to work well with our creative team as well as reporters and editors across the newsroom.
Search for, acquire and analyze data in pursuit of breaking and longer-term stories, with an eye for disruptions in the legal, financial, and government arenas. Challenge yourself and others, exploring new technologies and finding new methods for storytelling to produce investigative stories with impact.
