Job summary

The City of Long Beach is seeking a Data Intern to support the Planning Bureau by gathering, cleaning, and visualizing data for the City’s Planning data systems and dashboards. This role involves developing data pipelines and assisting with annual housing production reporting in a municipal setting.

You will collaborate with Advance Planning and Current Planning teams, applying data storytelling and technical skills in a fast-paced government environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a graduate program in a relevant field or recently graduated within one year.
• Proof of enrollment or degree is required in PDF format at the time of application.

Responsibilities

• Support Planning staff with data management, analysis, and research.
• Develop data pipelines and automate data collection where possible.
• Help update public-facing data visualization platforms, such as housing dashboards.
• Collaborate with Advance Planning and Current Planning to implement data projects.
