Base Power Company in Austin is seeking a backend data engineer with a strong data focus to design, build, and operate our data infrastructure. You will own pipelines, schemas, and platforms handling high-volume telemetry and grid-related data for dashboards, models, and APIs.

You’ll work with Python, SQL, and Go, and use modern orchestration and cloud tools to ensure reliable data delivery across the company. This startup-style team values impact and speed.

Qualificações

• 5+ years in data engineering or backend engineering with a strong data focus.
• Experience building data infrastructure: warehouses, lakes, streaming systems (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks).
• Strong Python and SQL; Go or another compiled language is a plus.
• Comfort with orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Prefect, dbt).
• Care for data quality, schema design, and building trustworthy systems.
• Cloud familiarity and infrastructure-as-code (GCP/AWS, Terraform).
• Able to work in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements.

Responsabilidades

• Backend data systems: build and maintain core systems that ingest, transform, and serve data end-to-end.
• Pipeline development and operations: design, build, and operate reliable batch and streaming pipelines.
• Data modeling and architecture: create foundational schemas for high-volume time-series data.
• Diverse data integration: ingest from IoT telemetry, APIs, and internal services.
• Visualization and accessibility: enable cross-functional teams to query and visualize data.
• Data quality and governance: ensure source-of-truth datasets are consistent and well-documented.
• Architecture evolution: help define the data architecture, tooling, and best practices.
