Job summary

LawnStarter is hiring a hands‑on Analytics Engineer to own data governance across source data, pipelines, dashboards, ML models, and security. You’ll drive a live Lightdash migration, enforce data contracts, and define responsible ownership as the company scales its analytics platform.

You’ll work remotely within the US, shaping how teams access trustworthy data while implementing scalable governance and self‑serve capabilities across product, marketing, operations, and finance.

Responsibilities

• Data quality and freshness: automated monitoring across source data, pipelines, and reports; catch upstream changes before they break downstream.
• Data lineage and impact analysis: map from production source to warehouse model to dashboard; assess downstream impact before changes ship.
• Lightdash administration: manage workspace structure, permissions, and rollout; enable self-serve while keeping the workspace tidy and trusted.
• Guard the semantic layer: extend definitions and mappings, prevent uncontrolled growth, maintain one definition per metric.
• Event tracking governance: maintain a governed Segment catalog; ensure events match production, evolve naming and drift guardrails.
• AI data readiness: govern data AI tools access and keep warehouse AI‑legible for reliable querying.
• Data security and privacy: enforce access controls and PI I handling under US state laws; periodic reviews of who can see what.
• Governance system: document ownership, review loops, and processes to sustain operations without heroics.
