Job summary

Peregrine Advisors LLC in the Washington, DC area seeks a senior Data Governance Lead to design and implement enterprise data governance for a federal client. You will configure Purview, lead policy development, and collaborate with data owners and stewards to ensure data quality and security.

This full-time role offers opportunities to shape governance frameworks, document procedures, and drive adoption across cloud and on-premises sources.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data governance or data management experience.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Hands-on experience configuring and using Microsoft Purview.
• Strong data governance and data management principles knowledge.
• Experience managing data catalogs, classifications, lineage, and glossaries.
• Ability to work with Data Owners/Stewards and technical teams.
• Knowledge of data quality, metadata, and data security.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead complex governance initiatives independently.
• Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and implementation of data governance initiatives.
• Configure and administer Microsoft Purview for cataloging, discovery, classification, and governance.
• Develop and maintain governance policies, standards, and procedures.
• Oversee data catalog, business glossary, data classification, and data lineage.
• Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and cross-functional teams to improve data quality.
• Establish processes for data ownership, stewardship, and accountability.
• Enable data discovery across cloud and on-premises sources.
• Track governance adoption metrics and drive improvements.
• Provide leadership and strategic guidance on governance practice.
• Create and maintain governance documentation and frameworks.
• Engage stakeholders and facilitate governance discussions and workshops.
