Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Data Catalog & Governance Specialist to implement and operate Atlan as the enterprise data catalog and lineage platform in an Atlanta-based role.

You will turn the catalog/lineage roadmap into working capability by cataloging assets, building lineage, automating governance through workflows, and standing up integrations with the broader data estate. You will work with insurance-domain data, leverage AI tooling, and connect Atlan to MCP-enabled AI agents,

Qualifications

• Hands-on Atlan experience (or comparable platform) across cataloguing, glossary, lineage, classifications and workflows.
• Practical experience with catalogue connectors and integrations across modern data stacks.
• APIs and scripting — comfortable with a platform's REST API/SDK and automation.
• Solid data management foundations — metadata, lineage, reference/master data, stewardship, data contracts.
• Insurance industry domain knowledge and ability to translate core concepts into catalogue structure.
• Clear communicator who can drive metadata quality and adoption with technical and business stakeholders.
• Required Experience: 12+ years

Responsibilities

• Cataloguing & metadata — catalogue assets across source systems; maintain glossary, classifications, tags and certification statuses; drive data quality.
• Lineage — implement and maintain business and technical lineage with evidence for certified releases.
• Workflows & automation — design and operate Atlan workflows for governance, enrichment and approvals; automate stewardship tasks.
• Integrations & connectors — configure and maintain connectors across the data estate; build custom integrations via Atlan API/SDK; resolve connector issues with engineering teams.
• Data products — build and publish certified data products with embedded lineage and reference-data alignment.
• AI & MCP integration — connect Atlan to AI agents using MCP and API; build AI-assisted enrichment and discovery; implement guardrails and audit trails.
• AI tooling & agent building — use AI tools like Claude to build reusable skills, agents, and automations.
• Domain alignment & adoption — apply insurance domain knowledge to glossary and taxonomy; onboard stewards/owners.
