Job summary

University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking a Data Entry Operator/Customer Service to accurately enter demographic data on daily specimen batches and generate/verify reports for data accuracy.

Reporting to the QC Manager, you will track specimens, document records, and communicate with authorized medical personnel while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines, including some holidays and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong typing speed (50 wpm) with high accuracy.
• Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Data entry into LIMS of daily requisitions and printing check reports for accuracy.
• Assist in printing and processing patient reports for physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain and update physician information in LIMS.
• Use imaging software to scan requisitions and documents into LIMS.
• Generate computerized reports and verify data accuracy.
• Update physician information in the database.
• Assist in accessioning newly arrived specimens as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of all records by shredding old requisitions and reports following storage policies.
• Work some holidays and Saturdays.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the QC Manager, the Data Entry Operator/Customer Service employee will accurately and timely enter demographic data on daily specimen batches and generate and check computerized reports for data accuracy. This position is also responsible for tracking specimens, documenting records, and communicating with various authorized medical personnel.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Data entry into LIMS of daily filter paper requisitions from all states; printing check list reports after data entry for use in data accuracy checks.
• Assist in printing and processing the Patient Reports to Physicians and Hospitals.
• Maintain and update Physican's information in LIMS.
• Use Imaging software to scan filter paper requisitions and documents into LIMS.
• Generate computerized reports and check them for data accuracy.
• Update doctor's information in the database.
• Assist in accessioning newly arrived specimens in the specimen processing section, as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of all records by shredding old lab specimen requisitions, patient reports, and other documents containing patient information, following document storage policies.
• Required to work some holidays and Saturdays.
• Performs other duties assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• General knowledge of personal computers.
• Ability to type 50 words per minute with an accuracy of at least 90%.
