Job summary

Deckers Brands is seeking a Data Engineering Lead to be the senior technical voice in the data and ML engineering org. You will provide hands-on leadership for data engineering design, build quality, and delivery standards across our enterprise data products, including reviews, CI/CD, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 8–10 years building enterprise data platforms and pipelines.
• 3+ years of technical leadership in data engineering delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership for data engineering design, build quality, and delivery standards.
• Review designs and enforce coding standards across internal and partner teams.
• Own engineering standards for model design, CI/CD, tests, docs, and deployment practices.
• Lead design and delivery of analytics-ready data models and transformation layers using dbt.
• Build and operate cloud-native ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines on AWS.
• Establish reusable data engineering patterns for repeatable solutions.
• Coach data engineers and analytics engineers through design reviews and knowledge transfer.
• Document patterns, runbooks, and reduce key-person dependency.
• Drive data quality with automated tests, lineage, and freshness monitoring.
