Job summary

Deckers Brands is seeking a Data Engineering Lead in Goleta, CA (Remote allowed) to provide senior technical leadership for data engineering design, build quality, and delivery standards across enterprise data products. You will set patterns, coding standards, and review gates for distributed teams, including external partners.

You’ll own analytics-ready data models and transformation layers with dbt, build cloud-native AWS pipelines, and mentor engineers to ensure reliable, scalable data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 8–10 years building enterprise-grade data platforms and analytics-ready models.
• 3+ years providing technical leadership on data engineering delivery.
• Hands-on experience with dbt, including model design, testing, CI/CD, and deployment.
• Strong experience with AWS data services and cloud data warehouses.
• Proficient in SQL and Python; working knowledge of Airflow.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership for data engineering across enterprise data products.
• Review designs and enforce coding standards across internal and partner engineers.
• Lead the design and delivery of analytics-ready data models and transformation layers using dbt.
• Build and operate cloud-native ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines on AWS.
• Coach and develop data engineers and analytics engineers through design reviews and knowledge transfer.
• Drive data quality, lineage, and governance across distributed teams.
