Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is seeking a summer intern for 2027 to support the Navy’s SSP in the Reentry Branch. The 10-week, 40-hour program runs May–July/August 2027 with potential remote work part-time during the school year.

Housing and transportation are the intern’s responsibility, and top performers may be considered for full-time roles after graduation. Interns work under a SPA manager and a government mentor, tackling data analysis, meetings, research, and a summer project

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Active enrollment in an accredited program in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related technical or engineering field.
• Must have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate experience.
• Must be able to work on-site full-time, 5 days per week, at a government facility in the Washington Navy Yard and conduct multi-day domestic travel as required (fully reimbursed).

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of data analysis, data pipleline engineering, and software tools
• Fulfill technical, programmatic, and organizational tasking set out by a government mentor in support of the assigned branch’s business rhythms
• Organize and attend meetings related to the branch’s technical function
• Perform technical research
• Draft, review, and/or edit documents
• Complete a “summer project” and attend weekly SPA informational roundtables and working lunches with SPA leadership
